Day 7: Breaking Every Covenant With Tammuz, Adonis, Counterfeit Grief, Emotional Bondage, and Misplaced Affection
This Day 7 study and prayer addresses ritual mourning, cyclical sorrow, misplaced affection, unhealthy soul ties, romantic obsession, beauty worship, fantasy relationships, rejection, abandonment, codependency, emotional manipulation, nostalgia, self pity, victim identity, grief after loss, and relationships that compete with devotion to Jesus Christ.
Theme and Biblical Context
Theme
Rejecting counterfeit grief, emotional bondage, ritual mourning, misplaced affection, unhealthy attachment, and relationship idolatry while receiving healing, comfort, joy, healthy love, and wholehearted devotion to Jesus Christ.
Why Tammuz and Adonis Are Grouped Together
Ezekiel records women weeping for Tammuz at the entrance of the Lord's temple. Tammuz and the later Adonis tradition were associated with recurring mourning for a dying figure. The biblical concern is not ordinary grief, but mourning and affection becoming acts of idolatrous devotion.
Tammuz
Ezekiel 8 identifies women weeping for Tammuz within the temple complex. The passage presents the practice as an abomination because idolatrous mourning was brought into a place dedicated to the Lord.
Adonis
Adonis is not named in the Bible. Historically, Adonis traditions included mourning connected with death, loss, beauty, desire, and seasonal return. This page uses Adonis only as historical context and keeps Scripture as the final authority.
Biblical Emphasis
Scripture permits honest grief but rejects worship rooted in sorrow, misplaced affection, and devotion to created beings. God heals the brokenhearted, comforts mourners, and calls the heart back to Himself.

Praise, Worship, and Surrender to the Healer of Broken Hearts
Scripture foundation: Psalm 147:3; Isaiah 61:1 to 3; Psalm 34:18; John 14:27; Revelation 21:4
Father, I worship You as the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. You are near to those who are broken in heart, and You save those who are crushed in spirit.
According to Isaiah 61, You give beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
I surrender every grief, loss, disappointment, memory, attachment, fear, relationship, longing, wound, and unanswered question to You.
Tammuz is not the lord of my emotions. Adonis is not the object of my affection. Grief is not my identity. Pain is not my master. Jesus Christ alone is Lord over my heart, mind, memories, relationships, and future.
Restore holy affection, emotional stability, healthy love, discernment, peace, joy, and wholehearted devotion to You speedily according to Your perfect will. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Father, I confess every place where a person, relationship, memory, desire, dream, family member, spouse, child, leader, mentor, possession, ministry, or former season became more important to me than You.
Forgive every time I sought identity, value, comfort, validation, security, direction, or emotional survival from people instead of from Jesus Christ.
Forgive every form of romantic obsession, jealousy, possessiveness, approval addiction, people pleasing, fear of rejection, fear of abandonment, emotional manipulation, and unhealthy dependency.
Forgive every time I protected pain, revisited wounds, worshiped memories, refused healing, or allowed grief to become my identity.
Pray and Repeat With Holy AggressionEvery door opened through misplaced affection, emotional idolatry, obsession, rejection, abandonment, and unhealthy dependence: CLOSE NOW! CLOSE NOW! CLOSE NOW! CLOSE NOW! CLOSE NOW! CLOSE NOW! CLOSE NOW! Let every door close completely according to Your Word. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Father, as Nehemiah and Daniel confessed the sins of their people, I confess the sins of my father's house and my mother's house concerning emotional abandonment, rejection, betrayal, broken marriages, repeated relationship failure, unresolved grief, family division, manipulation, control, jealousy, possessiveness, and unhealthy mourning.
Forgive every ancestral pattern of idolizing spouses, children, parents, leaders, deceased relatives, former relationships, family reputation, or past seasons.
Forgive every family pattern of emotional silence, chronic disappointment, bitterness after loss, fear of love, fear of trust, victim identity, and using grief to control others.
According to Ezekiel 18, I do not accept ancestral guilt as my identity. According to Galatians 3, Christ redeemed me from the curse so that the blessing of Abraham may come through Jesus Christ.
Terminate every inherited pattern of grief, abandonment, rejection, emotional bondage, unhealthy attachment, counterfeit mourning, manipulation, and relational idolatry. Let healing, healthy love, forgiveness, joy, trust, and godly relationships arise speedily in my family line. In Jesus' name. Amen.

I put on the breastplate of righteousness and guard my heart according to Proverbs 4. I lift the shield of faith against loneliness, despair, jealousy, fear, emotional instability, intrusive memories, and hopelessness.
I receive the helmet of salvation and reject every attack against my thoughts, memories, emotions, sleep, identity, and ability to hope. I take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
