Crossing the Jordan

Date
Wednesday, August 5, 2026
Series
Crossing Over: Leaving the Wilderness and Entering the Promised Land
Theme
Crossing the Jordan: Walking by Faith into God’s Next Season
Personal intention
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal where fear, hesitation, uncertainty, or the need for control has delayed your obedience. Identify the next step God is asking you to take in faith.
Scripture focus
Joshua 3:1 to 17, Joshua 4:1 to 9, Joshua 1:9, Hebrews 11:1, 2 Corinthians 5:7, Isaiah 41:10, Psalm 32:8, Proverbs 3:5 to 6, and James 2:17
Goal
The goal of this fast is to strengthen our faith and obedience as we move from preparation into action. Israel could not enter the Promised Land by remaining on the riverbank. The priests carrying the Ark had to place their feet into the Jordan before the waters stopped. During this fast, we are asking the Lord to remove fear, hesitation, procrastination, double-mindedness, and the need to understand every detail before obeying. We are seeking clarity, courage, discernment, and grace to take the next step God has already placed before us.
Fast window
Standard: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. Alternate: midnight to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or any continuous twelve hour window.
Flow
Worship → Opening prayer → Read Joshua 3 and 4 → Ask God to reveal your Jordan → Repent for delayed obedience → Main prayer → Journal God’s instruction → Take one practical step of faith → Closing prayer.
FAST WINDOW
This corporate fast will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The standard fasting window is 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. If needed, choose an alternate period of midnight to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or any continuous twelve hour window. Use this time to seek the Lord concerning the next step He is asking you to take, the fear or hesitation that must be confronted, and the obedience required to move forward.
IN ADDITION
Fast from social media, unnecessary entertainment, excess noise, gossip, complaining, negative speech, and distractions unless required for work or urgent responsibility. Make room for worship, Scripture meditation, prayer, Scripture meditation, journaling, silence, and listening carefully for the Lord’s instruction.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where you are standing at the edge of your Jordan. This may involve a decision, transition, ministry assignment, business step, family matter, healing journey, act of forgiveness, financial obedience, or another area where God has already spoken but fear or uncertainty has delayed your response.

What step of faith is God asking me to take?

UNITY MOMENT
If you can, pause to pray at 12:00 PM local time. If that is not possible, pause at the midpoint of your fasting window and pray in agreement with today’s focus: Father, strengthen my faith and give me courage to obey You. Remove fear, hesitation, and double-mindedness. Make my next step clear, and help me trust You before I see the full outcome. As I move in obedience, let every Jordan before me become a testimony of Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.

SCRIPTURE AND DAILY FOCUS
Daily declaration
Today, I choose faith over fear. I will trust God before I see the outcome. I will obey even when the path is unfamiliar. The Jordan before me will not stop the purpose of God for my life. The Lord goes before me, and I will move when He says move.
Joshua 3:1 to 6
Israel rose early and came to the Jordan, but before crossing, they waited for instruction. The officers told the people to follow the Ark because they had not passed that way before. New seasons require sensitivity to God’s presence and willingness to follow His direction into unfamiliar territory.
Joshua 3:13 to 17
The priests carrying the Ark had to place their feet into the overflowing Jordan before the waters stopped. Their obedience came before the visible miracle. Ask God where He is waiting for your first step of faith.
Joshua 1:9
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Courage does not mean the absence of fear. It means obeying God because His presence is greater than what stands before you.
Hebrews 11:1
Faith gives substance to what we hope for and confidence in what we cannot yet see. Crossing requires confidence in God’s character before there is visible evidence of the outcome.
2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Ask the Lord to free you from the need to see every detail before obeying. Faith moves according to God’s word, not only according to what circumstances appear to say.
Proverbs 3:5 to 6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean entirely on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in every decision, and He will direct your path. Surrender the need to control the process.
Isaiah 41:10
God promises to strengthen, help, and uphold His people. You do not cross into a new season alone. His presence goes with you into every unfamiliar place.
Joshua 4:1 to 9
After crossing, Israel gathered twelve stones as a memorial of God’s faithfulness. Remembering what God has already done strengthens your faith for what still lies ahead.
Reflection
What Jordan am I currently standing before?
Where has fear delayed my obedience?
What instruction has God already given me?
Am I waiting for certainty instead of trusting God?
What first step can I take this week?
What would obedience look like in this situation?
What past testimony proves that God has been faithful?
What must I surrender in order to move forward?
PRAYERS
Opening prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for bringing me through every wilderness season. Thank You for sustaining me, teaching me, correcting me, protecting me, and preparing me. I repent for every place where fear, doubt, procrastination, unbelief, or the need for control has delayed my obedience. Forgive me for waiting for perfect conditions when You were asking me to trust Your voice. Search my heart and reveal every area where I am resisting Your direction. Remove confusion, double-mindedness, spiritual hesitation, and fear of the unknown. Holy Spirit, make Your instruction clear. Give me courage to obey, wisdom to move carefully, and faith to take the next step even when I cannot see the entire path. Let Your presence go before me. I declare that I will not cross alone. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Main prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, strengthen me to walk by faith and not by sight. Teach me to trust Your character when circumstances have not yet changed. Break the power of fear of failure, fear of success, fear of change, fear of rejection, fear of loss, and fear of the unknown. Deliver me from procrastination, indecision, self-sabotage, discouragement, and every pattern of retreat. Give me spiritual discernment to recognize Your timing and Your instruction. Close every door that is not from You, and give me peace and courage concerning every door You are opening. Order my steps in my family, health, finances, work, business, ministry, relationships, and future. Keep me from moving ahead of You, but also keep me from remaining behind when You have said, “Go forward.” As I obey, let every Jordan before me become a testimony of Your faithfulness. Make a way where I cannot see one. Bring divine alignment, favor, protection, provision, and confirmation as I move according to Your will. Break hesitation, double-mindedness, passivity, and delayed obedience. Remove the need to understand everything before I trust You. I surrender the outcome to You. I choose obedience over comfort, faith over fear, and trust over control. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Closing prayer
Father, thank You for every instruction, correction, and confirmation You have given me during this fast. I dedicate my next step to You. Establish every decision that agrees with Your will, and interrupt every path that would lead me away from You. I commit my family, health, finances, work, business, ministry, relationships, and future into Your hands. Lead me with wisdom and keep me sensitive to Your Spirit. I declare that I will not retreat because of fear. I will not return to what You delivered me from. I will not allow delay, doubt, or discomfort to cancel my obedience. Go before me, make crooked places straight, and let my life testify that You are faithful to lead Your people across. Cover me in the blood of Jesus. Let no retaliation, confusion, heaviness, discouragement, or spiritual residue attach itself to me. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace. I am crossing the Jordan by faith. I will obey Your voice and move forward with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
WHAT MAY HINDER YOUR CROSSING
Ask the Holy Spirit to identify what applies to you. This list is not intended to create condemnation, but to help you pray honestly and recognize what may be delaying your obedience.
Fear of failure
Fear of success
Fear of change
Fear of the unknown
Procrastination
Indecision
Double-mindedness
Self-sabotage
Discouragement
Unbelief
Spiritual hesitation
The need to control
JOSHUA 4 EXERCISE: TWELVE MEMORIAL STONES
After Israel crossed the Jordan, God instructed them to gather twelve stones as a memorial of His faithfulness. Write down twelve things God has already done for you. Include answered prayers, protection, provision, healing, deliverance, open doors, restored relationships, lessons learned, or times He carried you through difficulty. Let these testimonies remind you that the God who was faithful before will remain faithful as you move forward.
“Today I cross the Jordan by faith. I will no longer allow fear to determine my future. I trust the Lord with every step, and I will obey His voice.”
Daily declaration based on Joshua 3:13, Joshua 1:9, Hebrews 11:1, and 2 Corinthians 5:7
