Corporate Fast: Lord, Answer Me According to Your Will

CORPORATE FAST

Date
Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Theme
Seeking God’s Direction for a Specific Question
Scripture focus
John 10:27, Proverbs 3:5 through 6, Isaiah 30:21, John 16:13, Psalm 25:4 through 5, Habakkuk 2:1 through 2, James 1:5, 1 Samuel 23:2 through 4, and 2 Chronicles 20:12
Goal
The goal of this corporate fast is to seek the Lord with a surrendered heart concerning a specific topic or question being brought privately before Him. We are asking God for His direction, His answer, His confirmation, and His guidance according to His will. Just as people in Scripture sought the Lord when they needed direction, counsel, strategy, or understanding before making a decision or facing a battle, we are bringing this before God and asking Him to lead us clearly. During this fast, we are not striving to force an answer; we are surrendering the topic to the Lord and trusting Him to answer, confirm, redirect, or give peace according to His perfect wisdom.
Fast window
Standard: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. Alternate: midnight to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or any continuous twelve hour window.
Flow
Worship → Repentance → Scripture → Prayer → Fast → Listen → Receive → Discern → Decree → Reflect → Close.
FAST WINDOW
This corporate fast will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, and may be observed using the standard window of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. If needed, you may choose an alternate fasting period of midnight to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or any continuous twelve hour window. Use this time to quiet your heart before the Lord, bring your topic or question before Him, ask for His direction, and surrender the answer to His will.
IN ADDITION
Fast from social media, unnecessary entertainment, excess noise, distractions, and conversations that pull your heart away from the Lord unless required for work. Make space for worship, Scripture meditation, prayer, silence, and listening. Ask the Lord to settle your heart, align your desires with His will, guide your next steps, and give you grace to obey what He reveals.
UNITY MOMENT
If you can, pause to pray at 12:00 PM local time. If that is not possible, pause at the midpoint of your fasting window and pray in agreement with today’s focus: Lord, I bring this topic before You. Give me Your answer, Your direction, Your confirmation, and Your guidance. Align my heart with Your will, and give me grace to obey what You reveal.

Today, I bring my topic or question before the Lord with humility and faith. I belong to Jesus, I hear His voice, and I will follow His direction. I will not move by fear, pressure, impatience, or assumption. The Lord will answer me according to His will, and my heart will remain surrendered to Him.

Proverbs 3:5 through 6
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Isaiah 30:21
And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Psalm 25:4 through 5
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
Habakkuk 2:1 through 2
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
1 Samuel 23:2 through 4
Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah. And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines? Then David enquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.
2 Chronicles 20:12
O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.
Reflection
What topic or question am I bringing before the Lord privately today?
Have I fully surrendered my desired answer to God?
Am I willing to receive His direction even if it is different from what I expected?
Where have I been leaning on my own understanding instead of acknowledging the Lord?
What pressure, preference, fear, or impatience may be influencing my expectations?
Is there any instruction God has already given me that I have delayed obeying?
What needs to come into alignment with God’s will in my heart, thoughts, timing, emotions, and next steps?
Am I prepared to obey however God chooses to reveal His direction?
PRAYERS
Opening prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I dedicate this fast to You. I come before You with humility, surrender, and reverence. Lord, I bring this topic or question before You: . I trust that You know every detail, every concern, every hidden thing, every decision connected to it, and every outcome that I cannot see. I surrender my desire, my timing, my preference, and my expectation to You. I ask You to lead me according to Your will. Let this fast be a holy moment of seeking You, waiting before You, and placing this question fully in Your hands. Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Main prayer
Father, I thank You that You are faithful to lead Your people. You gave direction to David when he asked whether to go into battle. You strengthened Jehoshaphat when he did not know what to do. You guided Your people when they looked to You for counsel, instruction, strategy, and understanding. Lord, I come before You asking for Your answer, Your direction, Your confirmation, and Your guidance. I do not want to move ahead of You. I do not want to delay if You are calling me to move. I do not want to choose based on pressure, preference, fear, impatience, or emotion. I want to be led by You. Father, bring my heart into alignment with Your will. Align my desires with Your desires. Align my thoughts with Your thoughts. Align my plans with Your plans. Align my timing with Your timing. Align my next steps with what You have ordained. If You are saying wait, give me peace to wait. If You are saying move, give me courage to move. If You are saying release, give me grace to release. If You are saying prepare, show me how to prepare. If You are saying continue, strengthen me to continue. If You are saying change direction, help me obey without resistance. Lord, I acknowledge You in the question, in the answer, in the timing, and in the next step. Direct my path. Make the unclear places plain. Confirm what You want confirmed. Redirect what needs to be redirected. Give me peace where You are leading me. Father, answer me in the way You know is best. You may speak through Your Word, peace, wisdom, confirmation, a dream, words of counsel, a prophetic word, an inspirational download, a song, an open door, a closed door, timing, repeated confirmation, or instruction from the Holy Spirit. However You choose to lead, give me wisdom to recognize it, humility to receive it, and obedience to follow it. Father, I ask for wisdom according to James 1:5. Give me wisdom generously. Give me understanding. Give me patience to wait on Your answer. Give me obedience to follow Your instruction. Lord, let this fast shift me from striving into surrender, from uncertainty into trust, from pressure into peace, and from misalignment into divine order. I trust You to answer me. I trust You to lead me. I trust You to guide me. I trust You to order my steps. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Closing prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me during this fast. Thank You for drawing me closer to Your heart. Thank You for hearing the topic or question I placed before You privately. Thank You for speaking through Your Word, strengthening my spirit, and bringing me into greater alignment with Your will. Lord, seal every instruction, confirmation, answer, and direction that came from You. Guard me from confusion after this fast. Guard me from second guessing what You made clear. Guard me from moving ahead of You or falling behind because of fear. Let Your peace continue to lead me. Let Your Word continue to guide me. Let Your Spirit continue to correct, confirm, and direct me. I surrender this topic to You again. I surrender the answer to You. I surrender my next steps to You. I surrender my timing to You. I surrender my plans to You. I surrender my desires to You. Lead me in the way I should go. Keep me aligned with Your will. Make my life a testimony of obedience, clarity, answered prayer, and divine direction. In Jesus’ name, amen.
