Corporate Fast:Standing in the Gap

CORPORATE FAST

Date
Wednesday, May 27, 2026
Theme
Fasting and Praying on Behalf of Someone Else
Scripture focus
Ezekiel 22:30, 1 Timothy 2:1, James 5:16, Isaiah 58:6 through 9, Esther 4:16, Ezra 8:21 through 23, Nehemiah 1:4 through 6, Daniel 9:3 through 5, Mark 9:29, Galatians 6:2, Romans 8:26 through 27, Jude 1:20, Hebrews 12:29, and Revelation 12:11
Goal
The goal of this corporate fast is to stand in the gap for someone else through intercessory fasting. Each person should prayerfully choose one person, family, church, church leader, intercession team, ministry, or community that needs prayer. We are voluntarily laying down our comfort before God as an act of love, sacrifice, and intercession, asking Him to move in their life according to His will. This fast may be offered before the Lord for another person’s healing, salvation, deliverance, guidance, protection, restoration, strength, breakthrough, repentance, clarity, or spiritual renewal.
Fast window
Standard: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. Alternate: midnight to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or any continuous twelve hour window.
Flow
Worship → Covering prayer → Speak in your heavenly language for at least 10 minutes → Repentance → Scripture → Prayer → Fast → Intercede → Listen → Reflect → Closing covering prayer.
FAST WINDOW
This corporate fast will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, and may be observed using the standard window of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM local time. If needed, you may choose an alternate fasting period of midnight to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, or any continuous twelve hour window. Use this time to pray for the person or group the Lord places on your heart.
IN ADDITION
Fast from social media, unnecessary entertainment, excess noise, distractions, and conversations that pull your heart away from prayer unless required for work. Make space for worship, Scripture meditation, intercession, silence, and listening. Ask the Lord to show you how to pray with compassion, wisdom, faith, and surrender.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Because this is an intercessory fast for someone else, begin with worship and then spend at least 10 minutes speaking in your heavenly language before moving into the written prayers. Ask the Lord to cover you in the blood of Jesus, seal you with His consuming fire, purify your motives, strengthen your spirit, and lead your intercession by the Holy Spirit.
UNITY MOMENT
If you can, pause to pray at 12:00 PM local time. If that is not possible, pause at the midpoint of your fasting window and pray in agreement with today’s focus: Lord, I stand in the gap for the person You have placed on my heart. Let Your mercy, healing, salvation, deliverance, wisdom, protection, and perfect will be released in their life. Strengthen them, guide them, and draw them closer to You.

HEAVENLY LANGUAGE PRAYER PREPARATION
After worship, set aside at least 10 minutes to pray in your heavenly language before beginning the written prayers. This is a time to yield to the Holy Spirit, allow Him to help you pray beyond your natural understanding, and prepare your heart for intercession. Do not rush this moment. Let your spirit become sensitive to the Lord before you pray for the person or group He has placed on your heart.
Suggested order: worship, covering prayer, 10 minutes of praying in your heavenly language, repentance, then the intercessory prayers.
SCRIPTURE AND DAILY FOCUS
Daily declaration
Today, I choose to stand in the gap for someone else. I lay down my comfort before the Lord as an offering of love, compassion, and intercession. I will not pray from fear, control, pride, or anxiety. I will pray from faith, humility, mercy, and surrender. I ask the Lord to cover me in the blood of Jesus, seal me with His consuming fire, and lead my prayers by the Holy Spirit. I trust God to move according to His will.
Intercessory fasting focus
Believers can fast and pray on behalf of someone else, such as for their healing, salvation, deliverance, protection, guidance, strength, or restoration. This is called intercession. Through intercessory fasting, we voluntarily lay down our comfort before God as an offering of prayer and love on another person’s behalf. Because this fast involves standing in the gap for another person, participants are encouraged to begin with worship, pray in their heavenly language for at least 10 minutes, and ask the Lord for spiritual covering before and after the fasting day.
Ezekiel 22:30
And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
1 Timothy 2:1
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.
James 5:16
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Romans 8:26 through 27
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Jude 1:20
But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
Hebrews 12:29
For our God is a consuming fire.
Revelation 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Isaiah 58:6 through 9
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward. Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am.
Esther 4:16
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
Ezra 8:21 through 23
Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance. For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.
Nehemiah 1:4 through 6
And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven, And said, I beseech thee, O Lord God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants.
Daniel 9:3 through 5
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: And I prayed unto the Lord my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments.
Mark 9:29
And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
Galatians 6:2
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Reflection
Who is the Lord placing on my heart for this fast?
What burden, need, struggle, decision, sickness, spiritual battle, or life season am I bringing before God on their behalf?
Have I asked the Lord to cover me in the blood of Jesus and seal me with His consuming fire before beginning this time of intercession?
Did I take time to worship and pray in my heavenly language before beginning the written prayers?
Am I praying from love and surrender instead of fear, control, or anxiety?
What Scripture can I pray over this person or group today?
What do I need to ask God to do in their heart, life, family, calling, health, faith, or circumstances?
Is there anything God is asking me to do practically after I pray?
How can I continue to cover this person in prayer beyond today?
PRAYERS
Covering prayer before the fast
Father, in the name of Jesus, I come before You before beginning this intercessory fast. I ask You to cover me in the blood of Jesus. Let the blood of Jesus cover my spirit, soul, body, mind, heart, emotions, thoughts, words, home, family, atmosphere, and this entire day of fasting. Seal me with Your consuming fire. Let Your holy fire surround me, purify me, protect me, and separate me from every distraction, retaliation, fear, confusion, pride, and assignment of the enemy. Father, I ask that my prayers today be led by the Holy Spirit and aligned with Your will. Guard my heart from fear, control, emotional striving, and anxious prayer. Let me stand in the gap with clean hands, a pure heart, and surrendered motives. I receive Your covering, Your cleansing, Your fire, Your wisdom, and Your protection. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Heavenly language prayer moment
Holy Spirit, I yield myself to You. Help me pray according to the will of God. Strengthen me in my inner man. Build me up in my most holy faith. Pray through me beyond what I know, beyond what I understand, and beyond what I can see. I surrender my natural understanding and ask You to lead this time of intercession. As I pray in my heavenly language, let my spirit become sensitive to the heart of the Father. Let every prayer that rises from this fast be pure, effective, and pleasing before the Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Pause here and pray in your heavenly language for at least 10 minutes before continuing.
Opening prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I dedicate this fast to You. I come before You with humility, compassion, and surrender. Today, I am standing in the gap for: . Lord, You know their life, their needs, their heart, their burdens, their wounds, their decisions, their battles, their family, their future, and every hidden thing I cannot see. I do not come before You to control the outcome. I come to intercede, to love, to pray, and to trust You. Let this fast be pleasing before You. Teach me how to pray according to Your will. Let my heart be pure, my motives be surrendered, and my prayers be led by the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer of repentance and cleansing
Father, before I stand in the gap for anyone else, I ask You to search my heart. Forgive me for every sin, known and unknown. Forgive me for pride, offense, bitterness, impatience, fear, judgment, unbelief, selfishness, and prayerlessness. Wash me in the blood of Jesus. Cleanse my thoughts, my motives, my words, my emotions, and my desires. I renounce every agreement with fear, anxiety, control, gossip, accusation, resentment, and spiritual distraction. I ask You to make my heart tender before You. Let me pray from mercy and not criticism. Let me intercede from love and not pride. Let me carry this burden in prayer without trying to carry what belongs to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Main intercessory prayer
Father, I lift up the person or group You have placed on my heart. I bring them before Your throne of grace. I ask You to meet them at the point of their need. Let Your mercy speak over their life. Let Your love draw them closer to You. Let Your hand cover, guide, strengthen, and restore them. Lord, if they need salvation, draw them to Jesus. Open their heart to the truth of the gospel. Remove spiritual blindness. Break the power of deception, rebellion, hardness of heart, and unbelief. Let them encounter the love, conviction, grace, and saving power of Jesus Christ. If they need healing, touch their body, mind, emotions, and spirit. Restore what has been broken. Strengthen what has become weak. Heal wounds seen and unseen. Let the power of God bring life, peace, and wholeness. If they need deliverance, let every yoke be broken by the power of Jesus Christ. Loose every band of wickedness. Undo every heavy burden. Let the oppressed go free. Break every bondage, cycle, stronghold, fear, addiction, torment, confusion, and spiritual attack that is not from You. If they need guidance, order their steps. Give them wisdom, clarity, discernment, counsel, and peace. Close every wrong door. Open every door aligned with Your will. Lead them away from danger, deception, delay, and destruction. Help them hear Your voice and obey Your instruction. If they need strength, renew them. Encourage their heart. Lift every heaviness. Strengthen their faith. Remind them that they are not forgotten. Let them know that You are near. If they are a church, church leader, intercession team, ministry, or family, cover them with Your protection. Strengthen unity. Expose every hidden plan of the enemy. Guard them from division, weariness, deception, offense, pride, and discouragement. Let Your Spirit lead them. Let Your wisdom guide them. Let Your presence remain with them. Father, I ask that Your will be done in their life. I surrender my preference, my fear, my timing, and my expectations. I trust You to move in the way that is best. I ask You to do what only You can do. Let this fast become a seed of mercy, love, and intercession before You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for protection and covering
Father, I ask You to cover the person or group I am praying for. Cover their mind, heart, body, family, home, work, ministry, relationships, decisions, and future. Surround them with Your presence. Send help where help is needed. Send wisdom where wisdom is needed. Send healing where healing is needed. Send conviction where conviction is needed. Send comfort where comfort is needed. Send protection where protection is needed. Lord, shield them from every assignment of the enemy. Protect them from confusion, deception, danger, despair, temptation, spiritual attack, and every weapon formed against them. Let no plan of darkness prosper over their life. Let the blood of Jesus speak mercy, redemption, protection, and victory over them. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Closing prayer
Father, thank You for hearing my prayers today. Thank You for allowing me to stand in the gap for someone else. Thank You for the privilege of carrying another person before You in prayer. I release this person or group into Your hands. I trust Your love. I trust Your timing. I trust Your wisdom. I trust Your will. Lord, seal every prayer that was prayed according to Your will. Continue working in their life even after this fast ends. Let Your mercy follow them. Let Your Spirit draw them. Let Your hand guide them. Let Your power deliver, heal, protect, restore, and strengthen them. Father, teach me to keep praying with faith and compassion. Help me not to become weary in intercession. Let my prayers remain rooted in love, humility, and obedience. I give You all glory, honor, and praise. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Covering prayer after the fast
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for sustaining me through this fast. I ask You to cover me again in the blood of Jesus. Cover my spirit, soul, body, mind, emotions, home, family, and atmosphere. Seal this day of fasting and prayer with Your consuming fire. Let Your fire consume every residue of heaviness, fear, distraction, spiritual contamination, confusion, and retaliation. Let nothing attach itself to me that is not from You. Let no assignment rise against me, my family, my home, my health, my peace, my sleep, my dreams, my purpose, or the person I prayed for. I place every prayer, every burden, every concern, and every outcome into Your hands. Lord, let Your peace guard me. Let Your presence cover me. Let Your fire surround me. Let the blood of Jesus speak over me. I close this fast in faith, surrender, protection, and thanksgiving. In Jesus’ name, amen.
