SCRIPTURE
2 Corinthians 5:17 (ESV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
Truth reminder
Childhood trauma can attach false identities, labels like broken, unworthy, shameful, or forgotten. But when you are in Christ, your past no longer defines you. You are made new.
You may still carry memories or scars, but your identity is no longer rooted in what was done to you. It is rooted in who God says you are.
Reflection questions
What false identities have I been carrying because of childhood trauma?
What does God’s Word say about who I truly am?
What does God’s Word say about who I truly am?
PRAYERS
Opening prayer
Father, I quiet my heart before You. As I fast today, bring Your light to anything in me that does not agree with Your truth.
Help me receive what You say about me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Main prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I renounce every false identity attached to my childhood trauma.
I reject labels like broken, unworthy, shameful, forgotten, rejected, and unsafe.
I surrender the pain that tried to name me, and I receive the truth that You have called me new.
Thank You that in Christ I am a new creation. Let the old pass away in my mind, my emotions, and my reactions.
Heal the places where trauma trained me to see myself through fear and shame.
Replace lies with truth, shame with honor, heaviness with hope, and confusion with clarity.
Root my identity in Your Word and strengthen me to live from who You say I am.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Closing prayer
Father, thank You for meeting me today. Help me steward what You revealed.
Teach me to speak Your truth over myself consistently and to take the next step You show me.
Seal this work with Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
